How to Sign a Vehicle Title in South Dakota: Step-by-Step Guide<

Before filling out any information on the title, it's important to carefully read these instructions, locate all the relevant lines, and review any additional instructions provided on the title.

Turn to the back of your South Dakota title and direct your attention to the middle of the page.

In the large box labeled "Odometer," input the current mileage of your vehicle.

Below the Odometer section, you'll find a series of colored boxes. Start with the one labeled "Date of sale" and fill in the required information, including the date of sale, sale price of the vehicle, value of any trade-in vehicle, and the total price paid for the vehicle. If a trade-in was involved, specify the year, make, and serial or South Dakota title number of the traded vehicle.

Proceed to the section labeled "Printed name of seller(s)" and ensure that all seller(s) print their name(s). If multiple individuals are selling the vehicle, their names should all fit on the same line.

Directly below, the seller(s) should sign their name(s).

Following the signatures, the seller should provide their street address.

Continue by filling in the seller's city, state, and zip code on the lines provided.

To the right of this information, there are two lines designated for the buyer. On the first line, where it says "Hand printed name of purchaser/company name," the buyer should print their name. On the second line, the buyer should sign their name. If there are two buyers, both individuals need to print and sign their names on these lines.
