How to Sign a Vehicle Title in New York: Step-by-Step Guide
Before filling out any information on the title, carefully read these instructions, locate all the appropriate lines, and review any instructions on the title.
Turn to the back of your New York car title and look near the top. On the right-hand side of the page is a box where you can write in the car's current odometer reading.
Look farther down the page for the box that says "Seller's signature." The seller should sign their name here. To the right is a box where the seller can print their name. Note that if two people are selling the vehicle, both of them need to fit their information in these boxes.
Under that, the seller should write the following information in the appropriate boxes: street address, city, state, zip code and date they signed the title.
In the next set of boxes, the buyer should sign their name (left-hand box) and print their name (right-hand box). Again, if two people are buying the vehicle, both of them need to fit their information in these boxes.
