How to Sign a Vehicle Title in New Mexico: Step-by-Step Guide

Before filling out any information on the title, carefully read these instructions, locate all the appropriate lines, and review any instructions on the title.

You'll find the following information near the bottom of the front page of your New Mexico title.

Where it says "Assignment of title for the exact amount of," write the sale price of the car.

On the next set of lines, write in the date the vehicle was sold. You will need to write in the month first, then the date, then the year.

On the next line, write in the buyer's name.

On the next line, write the buyer's address.

Skip the lines that ask for lienholder information. Under those will be a small line where you should write in the vehicle's current mileage.

Where it says "Signature(s) of seller(s)," the seller or sellers should sign their name(s). Note that there are two lines where sellers can sign, so each person should sign their name on a separate line in this section. To the right of these lines is a place for both sellers to print their names.

Where it says "Signature(s) of buyers(s)," the buyer or buyers should sign their name(s). Again, there are two lines where buyers can sign, so each person should sign their name on a separate line in this section. To the right of these lines is a place for both buyers to print their names.
