How to Sign a Vehicle Title in Michigan: Step-by-Step Guide
Before filling out any information on the title, carefully read these instructions and locate all the appropriate sections.
Michigan has restructured its car titles. If you have the newer style title, all information for an individual selling a vehicle to another individual is printed on the front, while the back is designated "For dealer use only."
Find the box near the middle of the title labeled "Printed name of purchaser(s)." Print the buyer's name in this box. If there are two buyers, both names must fit in the same box. Next, print the date of the sale in the box adjacent to that, followed by the sale price.
In the next set of boxes, enter the buyer's street address, city, state, and zip code.
Underneath, in the small boxes, enter the car's current odometer reading.
In the subsequent set of boxes, the seller(s) should sign their name(s) where it says "Signature of seller(s)." If there are two sellers, both names must fit in the box. Next to that, the seller(s) should print their name(s).
In the next set of boxes, the seller should print their street address, city, state, and zip code.
In the following section, separated by a thick line, locate the box labeled "Signature of buyer(s)." The buyer(s) should sign their name(s) in this box. Next to that, the seller(s) should print their name(s).
