Signing a Vehicle Title in Connecticut: Step-by-Step Guide

Before proceeding, it's recommended to carefully read these instructions, locate all the appropriate lines on the title, and review any instructions provided.

On the Back of Your Connecticut Car Title:

Turn to the back of your Connecticut car title and locate the section near the top.

In the box under the words "Transfer of ownership," enter the car's current mileage.

Where it says "Name of buyer," print the buyer's name.

On the next line, print the buyer's full address (street address, city, state, and zip code).

Skip the next line. The following line says "Signature of buyer." The buyer should sign on this line. Next to that, the buyer should print their name. Note that if two people are taking ownership of the car, both names must fit on the same lines.

The next line says "Name of seller." The seller should print their name there. Next to that, the seller must write in the date of the sale. Again, if two people are releasing ownership, they both need to fit their names on this line.

On the next line, where it says "Signature of seller," the seller should sign their name.
